They’re not the fanciest, nor the flashiest, and sometimes they don’t even have air conditioning. However, we all know that no matter how many Formula 1 races you watch, if you’re on a budget, a Suzuki is probably one of the first, if not the first, car that comes to mind. .

The thing is, a Suzuki has always been both an ambitious purchase and a guilty pleasure for many. It’s the first car many of us buy and also what we end up getting whenever our budgets are limited. And that shouldn’t change anytime soon.

Why do we say this? Well, it is because Suzukis has always been the most affordable if not the most reliable automaker in Pakistan. Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) knows this, and they have operated it for the better part of some four decades in Pakistan. So much so that customers are now paying premiums to continue buying Suzukis unlike the competition in its class.

Profit looked at Road Prince’s Prince Pearl, United’s Alpha and Bravo and KIA Picanto and compared them to PSMC’s entire hatchback portfolio. What did we find? That these cars are selling at a discount while PSMC’s portfolio is trading for a premium. Today, cars traded for rebates or “cashbacks” have become ubiquitous in today’s automotive market due to the macroeconomic situation.
